The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in collaboration with the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), has hosted a workshop to advance the implementation of the Digital Literacy Action Plan for Federal Civil Servants.
The workshop, held at the OHCSF, represents a key step in Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda and aims to build a digitally empowered workforce in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to improve governance and service delivery.
Speaking on behalf of the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the Acting Director of Digital Literacy and Capacity Building Department, Dr. Ahmad Yusuf Tambuwal, gave a detailed update on the progress of the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) programme. He explained the provisions of the digital literacy training and certification initiative, noting that it is designed to equip civil servants with vital digital skills. “This workshop serves as a critical platform to accelerate the adoption of digital tools, enhancing productivity and efficiency across the Federal Civil Service,” he said.
The Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, OHCSF, Mrs. Fatima Sugra Mahmood, who represented the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, called on civil servants to fully embrace a citizen-centric approach in delivering government services. “We urge all participants to engage with the training courses and leverage digital tools to achieve a paperless ecosystem by year-end, thereby enhancing operational efficiency,” she stated.
The event featured sessions focused on onboarding participants and providing hands-on training with modern digital tools, ensuring that civil servants are well prepared to meet the demands of a rapidly changing digital economy.
The initiative highlights NITDA’s commitment to creating a digitally inclusive workforce and aligns with the national vision of a technologically advanced, citizen-focused public service that prioritizes efficiency, transparency, and innovation.
