Governor Bassey Otu has approved the disbursement of N800 million as a 2025 grant to young people for agri-business ventures, with each beneficiary receiving N2 million as start-up capital. This move is aimed at creating jobs and promoting food security in Cross River State.
Speaking on the initiative, Governor Otu said, “This is part of our commitment to empower entrepreneurs, reduce dependence on political appointments, and open sustainable pathways for wealth creation.”
A total of 400 youths, drawn from the 18 local government areas of the state, have completed a 14-day intensive training on various agro-value chains.
According to officials, other batches will benefit in the coming months as the state government continues its efforts to boost agriculture and increase youth participation in the sector.
