The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the sum of ₦779,269,895.00 for education support contracts aimed at strengthening basic education and monitoring across the 27 Local Government Areas of the state. The approval was given during the council meeting held on Monday, 22nd September 2025, and chaired by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar A. Namadi FCA.
The contracts cover the supply of essential teaching and learning materials, as well as mobility support for school supervision. According to the council resolution, the package includes 68,850 textbooks, 700 whiteboards, 3,000 cartons of erasable markers, and 295 Hunter model motorcycles for School Support Officers (SSOs). These will be deployed to schools in both rural and urban areas across the state.
“This intervention is part of the ongoing implementation of the educational transformation agenda of our administration,” Governor Namadi explained. He added that the move is designed to improve learning outcomes, equip classrooms with teaching tools, and strengthen accountability at the school level.
The government highlighted that the provision of textbooks and teaching aids will directly enhance the quality of instruction in primary and junior secondary schools. At the same time, the supply of motorcycles will significantly improve the mobility of SSOs, enabling them to carry out regular monitoring, mentoring, and support visits to schools.
The Namadi administration described the initiative as a strategic investment in education, stressing that it demonstrates a strong commitment to revitalising the sector. “We are ensuring equitable access to quality education and creating a conducive learning environment for every child in Jigawa State,” the council stated.
