Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the release of N396 million for the procurement of fertilizer under the Federal Government’s Special Intervention Programme aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and reducing rising costs. The approval was confirmed by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Ya’u Haruna Gamji, during a press briefing in Gusau on Thursday.
According to the Commissioner, the funds will cover 12,000 bags of NPK fertilizer, with each bag subsidized at N33,000. He explained that the initiative is designed to ease the financial burden on farmers while directly supporting increased food production across Zamfara State.
Hon. Gamji stated, “This development underscores the commitment of the Zamfara State Government to empower local farmers and achieve sustainable food security under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Dauda Lawal.”
The intervention is expected to enhance access to affordable fertilizer, strengthen agricultural investments, and improve yields, contributing to economic growth and food availability across communities in the state.
