Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has received a 12-member delegation from the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations, the Danish Refugee Commission, and Doctors of the World UK to explore partnerships in food security and peace building.

During the courtesy visit on Tuesday, Governor Radda highlighted his administration’s focus on ensuring lasting peace, food security, and improved livelihood support, particularly for rural communities. He explained that the state government has distributed food items to vulnerable families, including 35,000 mothers whose children were recently discharged from malnutrition centres.

“We are committed to addressing these critical issues. We have also distributed farm machineries and implements to enhance agricultural productivity across the state,” the Governor said. He emphasized that agriculture remains a key driver for both economic development and food security in Katsina.

The Head of Office, Nigeria, for the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations, Alexandre Castellano, who led the delegation, disclosed that the team’s mission was to partner with Katsina State in addressing lasting peace, strengthening food security mechanisms, tackling nutrition-related challenges, and providing skills for displaced communities.

Castellano praised the state government’s commitment to supporting humanitarian interventions, saying, “We recognize Katsina’s enabling environment that allows organizations to implement community-driven initiatives and people-developed policies.”

The delegation also acknowledged the state’s ongoing efforts in peace building and humanitarian partnerships. They confirmed their participation in the fundraising event for malnutrition and food security, scheduled to hold in Abuja on October 9, 2025.

Governor Radda assured the visiting team of his administration’s continued support for programmes aimed at improving the welfare of vulnerable families. He added that Katsina will keep working with development partners to promote long-term stability and strengthen agricultural productivity.
