Hajiya Jamila Tasiu Maigari, the wife of the member representing Zango Local Government Area in the Katsina State House of Assembly, has distributed support items to 1,000 women engaged in small businesses. The beneficiaries were drawn from 135 polling units across 10 wards in the local government area.
The wife of the Katsina State Governor, Hajiya Zulaihat Dikko Umar Radda, officially launched the distribution during a ceremony held at the Zango Sports Arena. The support package included soya beans, beans, maize, millet, and a cash gift of ₦5,000 for each beneficiary to help boost their small-scale businesses.
In her address, the Governor’s wife explained that the initiative is part of the administration’s vision under Malam Dikko Umar Radda to support women and low-income earners. She said, “This program is in line with our commitment to empowering women and ensuring that those at the grassroots level benefit from government initiatives.” She called on other female lawmakers to emulate Hajiya Safa Nasir Yahaya Daura and Hajiya Jamila Tasiu Maigari by working to improve the lives of women in their communities.
The wife of the Deputy Governor, Hajiya Asmau Faruk Jobe, advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the support they received. She encouraged them to grow their businesses and maintain proper personal and environmental hygiene.
The wife of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hajiya Safa Nasir Yahaya Daura, commended the initiative. She prayed for God’s blessings upon the support provided to the women, noting that such programs help to strengthen local businesses and improve household income.
Hajiya Jamila Tasiu Maigari, the sponsor of the initiative, explained that the support is part of her efforts to assist her husband in improving the living conditions of people in Zango, especially women and low-income earners. She expressed appreciation to the Governor’s wife for her support for women, orphans, and the less privileged in Katsina State.
Other speakers at the event included the APC Chairman of Zango Local Government, Alhaji Sule Hamisu, the wife of the Local Government Chairman, Hajiya Batula Babangida Yardage, and the APC Women Leader in the area. The event ended with the distribution of the support packages to the women.
