The Federal Government has announced plans to launch the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) 2.0, a paid initiative designed to connect unemployed graduates from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory with practical work experience and career development opportunities.
Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Hadejia, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja ahead of the programme’s official launch. He explained that the NJFP 2.0 is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at tackling youth unemployment and boosting national productivity. The launch event is scheduled for Wednesday and will be led by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the State House Conference Centre.
“The 12-month paid fellowship offers graduates meaningful placements in both public and private sectors, providing a monthly stipend of ₦150,000,” Hadejia said. “It equips young Nigerians with essential skills and hands-on experience, addressing the economic setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The programme enjoys strong international support from the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The EU Head of Operations announced a €44 million commitment to support NJFP’s implementation, while the UNDP representative highlighted ongoing collaboration to strengthen more Nigerian institutions.
“This initiative empowers youth directly and enhances workforce capacity nationwide,” Hadejia added.
He further explained that participating organisations will gain access to skilled personnel, lower recruitment costs, and boost productivity. Graduates, on the other hand, will benefit from valuable experience that could lead to full-time jobs, entrepreneurship, or other professional pathways.
“At programme completion, organisations may retain fellows, or they may start businesses that create more employment opportunities,” the deputy chief of staff stated.
Nigeriastartupact.ng previously reported that applications for NJFP 2.0 will officially open on 22nd October 2025 at 5:00 PM (WAT). The NJFP 2.0 reflects a joint effort by the Nigerian government, the EU, and UNDP to create a stronger and inclusive workforce for Nigeria’s growing economy.
