There are ongoing claims that the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) application approval is currently in progress. This viral trend began spreading online shortly after a recent interview granted by Professor Idris Bugaje, the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), on Freedom Radio Kaduna during the Friday’s Good Day programme.

One of the viral posts read, “TVET application approval is ongoing, check your dashboard for status.” Following this, some applicants have claimed that more approvals are expected after the interview with Professor Bugaje.

However, one of the key comments made by Professor Bugaje during the interview was, “We are making efforts to convert the issuance of HND certificates to B.Tech degrees in polytechnics.” The discussion also covered topics related to Science and Technology, as part of NBTE’s ongoing efforts to reform technical education in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, several social media users are still sharing updates claiming that their applications remain “pending.” From available information, there is currently no general approval process going on. Applicants whose dashboards still display pending status are advised to keep checking for updates and official announcements from the TVET portal.

Earlier, Nigeriastartupact.ng reported that some approved trainees who were matched to training centres far from their locations, or who missed documentation, have left unclaimed slots. These vacant positions are expected to be reassigned to other qualified applicants.

TVET had previously clarified that any trainee who fails to report to their assigned training centre will have their application cancelled, and the slot will be given to another applicant.
