The University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has announced the commencement of its recruitment exercise for qualified candidates to fill various academic and non-teaching staff positions. According to the announcement, “applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates for the underlisted positions in the University of Uyo.”
For the academic staff positions, the university seeks applications for Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer I, Lecturer II, Assistant Lecturer, and Graduate Assistant roles across several departments, including Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Radiography and Radiation Science, and Dentistry.
Candidates for the post of Professor must hold a PhD or its equivalent in the relevant field and have served as Associate Professor for at least three years. They must show “outstanding and continuing scholarly achievements and publications” and be visible on platforms such as Google Scholar and ResearchGate. Associate Professors must also possess a PhD and have at least nine years of cognate experience.
Senior Lecturers are required to have a PhD and six years of relevant experience, while Lecturer I candidates should hold a PhD and at least three years of experience. Lecturer II applicants must possess a PhD or, for fields like Law, Pharmacy, and Engineering, a Master’s degree or MBBS with relevant professional qualifications. Assistant Lecturers must hold a Master’s degree, while Graduate Assistants should possess a Bachelor’s degree with at least a Second Class Honours (Upper Division).
The university is also recruiting non-teaching staff for various administrative, technical, and support roles. Positions include Principal Technologist, Principal Medical Laboratory Technologist, Senior Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Laboratory Technician I, Laboratory Assistant, Administrative Officer I and II, Higher Technical Officer I, Technical Officer I, Works Supervisor, Executive Officer, and several junior roles such as Clerical Officer, Computer Operator, and Groundsman.
The Registrar, Mrs. Blossom E. Okorie, stated that “application is open to all eligible Nigerian citizens from the ages of 18 to 50,” adding that applicants must meet all required qualifications and competencies.
Interested candidates are to submit twenty-five copies of their applications and Curriculum Vitae, addressed to the Registrar, University of Uyo, P.M.B. 1017, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Applications must be submitted within six weeks from the date (October 27, 2025) of publication. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
