Southwestern University Nigeria, a non-denominational private institution located along Benin Expressways, Okun-Owa, Ogun State, has announced vacancies for both academic and non-teaching positions. The university, designed to bridge the gap between Research and Development (R & D) and the industries, is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to join its team of professionals.
According to the university management, “Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified individuals to fill the vacant positions of Professors, Associate Professors, Senior Lecturers, Lecturer I & II, and Assistant Lecturers in various fields of specialization.” These fields include Accounting, International Relations, Biochemistry, Mass Communication, Business Administration, Microbiology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Political Science, Economics, Public Health, and Foreign Languages such as French, Chinese, and German.
The university also announced opportunities for non-teaching staff. “Applications are welcome for positions such as Deputy Registrar, Administrative Officers, Principal Assistant Registrar, Secretaries, Assistant Registrar, Security Personnel, Registrar, Nurses, and Laboratory Technologists,” the management stated.
For academic roles, the requirements vary according to position. Professors must possess a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline with proven academic leadership, publications, research, and administrative experience, alongside at least 12 years of full-time teaching and research experience. Associate Professors require similar qualifications with a minimum of 10 years of experience, while Senior Lecturers need at least 7 years of experience and must have served as Lecturer I in a recognized institution. Lecturer I requires 4 years of cognate experience, Lecturer II must hold a Ph.D., and Assistant Lecturers should have a Master’s degree with at least 2 years of teaching experience and must be enrolled in a Ph.D. program.
Non-teaching positions also have specific requirements. Librarians must possess a degree in Librarianship, Secretaries should have a National Diploma in Office Technology and Management, and Laboratory Technologists must hold B.Sc. or HND in Computer Science, Biochemistry, or Microbiology Laboratory Technology.
