Some recently onboarded Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) fellows assigned to Sterling Bank as their host organization have received emails welcoming them as Field Sales Officers within the Sales Organization.
The email reads,
“Dear,
Welcome to Sterling Bank. We are delighted to have you join our team as a Field Sales Officer within the Sales Organization.
Your official Monday the 1st of November, 2025.
I will call you and discuss where we will meet.
A brief orientation will be conducted to help you familiarize yourself with our operations, policies, and performance expectations. We encourage you to come prepared to learn, contribute, and make an impact.
Once again, welcome to the team! We look forward to working with you and achieving great results together.”
This suggests that the fellows will be working as marketers. However, the concerning part of the email is the paragraph that reads, “I will call you and discuss where we will meet.” The email was also sent via personal Gmail addresses not owned by Sterling Bank as an organization.
Sterling Bank fellows are advised to reach out to their assigned bank branches to verify such information before meeting up with anyone. This is to ensure safety and confirm that the communication is authentic before taking further steps.
