The Federal Medical Centre, Owo, Ondo State, has announced new job openings for qualified candidates within and outside the institution. According to the official statement released by the management, the recruitment covers both the main centre and its annexes.
The announcement invites applications for several categories including Consultants, Residents, Medical Officers, Dental Officers, Senior Nursing Officers, Nursing Superintendents, Pharmacists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Therapists.
In a notice signed by Oyajumo E. A., Director and Head of Administration, the management stated, “Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for various positions at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo and its annexes.”
For Consultants, the available specialties include Oncology, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Dermatology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Paediatrics Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neuro Surgery, Urology, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Anaesthesiology, Haematology, Microbiology, Chemical Pathology, Histopathology, Psychiatry, Radiology, Ophthalmology, Maxillofacial Surgery, and Orthodontist Surgery.
Residents are required in disciplines such as Surgery, Radiology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Community Health, Ophthalmology, and Anaesthesia.
The qualification requirements vary according to the position. For Consultants, candidates must possess a Degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS/MBChB) and the Part II Final Fellowship of the National Post-Graduate Medical College of Nigeria or West African College of Surgeons/Physicians. Candidates must also be registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and have a current practising licence.
For Residents, Medical Officers, and Dental Officers, the notice emphasized the need for valid registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and evidence of NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
Senior Nursing Officers must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (B.Sc.Nc), while Nursing Superintendents must possess RN&RM qualifications. Pharmacists are expected to hold a degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy and be registered with the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria.
The centre also called for applications from Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists with relevant degrees and NYSC documentation.
According to the statement, “All applicants are required to submit six copies of their credentials and Curriculum Vitae with an application letter, indicating the position sought on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.”
The management noted that the condition of service will be as applicable in other tertiary health institutions in Nigeria. Interested candidates must submit their applications to the Office of the Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Owo, Ondo State, within four weeks from the date of the advertisement.
