The Yobe State Government has announced the immediate closure of all boarding secondary schools following rising security concerns across the country. In an official letter dated 22nd November 2025 and issued by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the government explained that the measure is necessary to safeguard students.
The statement noted that the decision was directed by His Excellency Hon. Dr. Mai Mala Buni, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, who emphasized the need to protect the lives and future of young people. The letter stated, “All boarding secondary schools in the State should be closed with immediate effect. The schools will be reopened as soon as the security situation improves.”
Principals of the affected schools were instructed to ensure strict compliance. The announcement was signed by Bukar Aji Bukar, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, who also conveyed the Hon. Commissioner’s best regards. The notice included full contact details from the state secretariat.
