The Federal Capital Territory Administration has denied reports claiming that all Government Schools in the FCT were instructed to close by November 28, 2025. According to the Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, no such directive was issued, saying that “no such decision was taken at any level of the administration.” He explained that the rumour created unnecessary tension among parents and students.

Olayinka also confirmed that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate suspension of the Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr Danlami Hayyo. This action followed the confusion generated by the false report. In addition, the Acting Head of Service, Mrs Nancy Sabanti Nathan, has been instructed to discipline the Director of School Services, Mrs Aishatu Sani Alhassan, in line with civil service rules.

The administration described the circulation of the early school closure notice as false and misleading. It advised parents, students, and school authorities to ignore the claim, adding that the approved academic calendar remains unchanged.

The FCTA reassured residents, especially students, of adequate security across the territory. It noted that the Minister has directed the continuation of Operation Sweep and other existing security measures to maintain safety in the federal capital.
