Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has commended the Mashi Local Government Council for rolling out an extensive empowerment initiative targeted at youths, women, and vulnerable residents in the area. The programme was coordinated by the Executive Chairman of Mashi Local Government, Hon. Salisu Kallah Dan Kada, through the Education and Social Services Department. Governor Radda described the intervention as “a bold commitment to grassroots development” and an example of local leadership supporting the people directly.

The empowerment featured wide-ranging support items aimed at boosting livelihoods and strengthening small businesses. They included 21 motorcycles, 200 bags of groundnuts cake, 200 bags of soybeans, 200 bags of beans, and 100 support packages for tea and bread vendors. Other distributed tools were 100 sewing machines, 100 grinding machines, 100 barbing salon kits, 100 blind-support sticks, 100 wheelchairs, five motor vehicles, 100 freshable engines, and 100 empowerment packages for meat butchers. Governor Radda noted that the variety of items reflected a deliberate effort to improve incomes, stimulate enterprise, and sustain household earnings across Mashi.

During his visit to the area, Governor Radda also paid a courtesy visit to the District Head of Mashi, Alhaji Kabiru Ibrahim Aminu, Iyan Katsina, where he engaged traditional leaders and ward heads. He stressed that traditional institutions play an important role in unity, success of government programmes, and community security. He encouraged continued cooperation between local authorities and traditional structures in ensuring development touches everyone.

The Governor later met with stakeholders including political leaders, youth groups, community associations, women groups, and representatives from various organizations. The session allowed residents to express their views, share feedback, and commit to community progress. Participants praised the Governor for supporting empowerment and showing interest in local challenges.

Speaking at the gathering, Hon. Salisu Yusuf Majigiri, Member representing Mashi/Dutsi Constituency, presented hundreds of new decampees from PDP to APC. He noted that the turnout reflected acceptance of Governor Radda’s leadership and reforms among the grassroots population. According to him, the decision of the decampees was based on observed improvements, not politics of convenience. He said, “We sincerely thank Your Excellency for the continuous support and attention you continue to give to our people. What we are witnessing today goes beyond a simple empowerment programme—this is a demonstration of your genuine commitment to uplifting the living standards of ordinary citizens.”

He added, “Our people can clearly see the difference your administration is making. From improved security to social interventions and empowerment opportunities like this, the impact is felt in every ward and every village. That is why more individuals, families, and youth groups are joining this movement. They believe in your vision, they trust your sincerity, and they want to be part of the new Katsina you are building.” Majigiri assured the Governor of loyalty and support as the administration works to give residents dignity, hope, and opportunity.

Governor Radda reiterated his government’s commitment to expand opportunities for youths and women, strengthen local government autonomy, and ensure equitable distribution of development projects across communities in the state. He encouraged more local councils to design community-driven programmes that improve welfare and sustain growth.

The event was attended by key figures including the Senator representing Daura Zone, Alhaji Nasir Sani Zango; Member representing Daura/Sandamu/Maiadua, Alhaji Aminu Jamo; Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arch.
