RHI Launches Elderly Support Scheme for 250 Beneficiaries in Bauchi

The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), under the leadership of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Bola Ahmed Tinubu (CON), has launched the third edition of the Elderly Support Scheme (RHIESS) in Bauchi State as part of its Social Investment Programme.

The event was held at the Dr. Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu Square, Government House, Bauchi, where 250 elderly citizens benefited from the intervention. The beneficiaries included retired military and police officers who received financial support aimed at improving their well-being and quality of life.

The programme was organised under the theme, “Finding Joy in Old Age,” which reflects the focus on dignity, care, and emotional support for senior citizens.

The initiative was inaugurated on behalf of the First Lady of Nigeria by the First Lady of Bauchi State, Hajiya Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed. She was represented at the event by the Wife of the Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Hajiya Asma’u Mohammed Auwal Jatau.

Speaking at the programme, the representative said the Renewed Hope Initiative remains committed to promoting the welfare of elderly citizens across the country. She stated that the initiative seeks to ensure that the years of service and sacrifices made by senior citizens are recognised and appreciated. She added that caring for the elderly is a vital pillar in building a compassionate society.

She also commended the Bauchi State Government for its support and collaboration, noting that the partnership contributed to the smooth implementation of the scheme.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the assistance, describing it as timely and helpful in meeting daily needs and restoring dignity.

The Elderly Support Scheme (RHIESS) is a flagship programme of the Renewed Hope Initiative, focused on improving the lives of women, children, and the elderly nationwide Nigeria.
