The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced that student loan approvals and other core operations will continue remotely, assuring students and stakeholders that services will not be disrupted despite a temporary remote work arrangement. The decision follows an ongoing fumigation and sanitation exercise at the Fund’s office.
According to NELFUND, the fumigation exercise will run from Tuesday, 23 December 2025, through the end of the year. The move is part of its proactive efforts to maintain a safe, healthy, and compliant working environment for both staff and visitors.
During this period, only minimal staff presence has been approved for essential on-site functions. The measure is designed to prioritise staff welfare, with special consideration for pregnant women and women of child-bearing age, who may be more vulnerable during fumigation.
“Staff safety remains paramount,” said Mr Akintunde Sawyerr, Managing Director/Chief Executive of NELFUND. “While the fumigation exercise is necessary, NELFUND has taken deliberate steps to ensure that no employee is unnecessarily exposed to any potential health risk.”
The Fund further explained that its robust digital infrastructure and established remote work framework will enable operations such as loan processing, stakeholder engagement, internal coordination, and service delivery to continue seamlessly. It said these systems were designed to ensure continuity, efficiency, and accountability even without physical office presence.
NELFUND added that the temporary adjustment reflects its institutional foresight and responsible governance, showing how technology can be used to sustain uninterrupted public service delivery. The Fund thanked all stakeholders for their understanding and reiterated its commitment to transparent, efficient, and student-focused education financing services across the country.
