The Oluyole Club, Lagos has opened applications for the 2026 Oluyole Club Bursary Program aimed at supporting indigent Ibadan students in Nigerian universities. The annual programme provides financial assistance to undergraduates who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need, helping them to continue their studies without the pressure of tuition fees.

The bursary, which offers a ₦100,000 financial award, is one of the longest-running educational support initiatives for Ibadan indigenes. Organised by the Oluyole Club, a non-profit association of Ibadan sons and daughters based in Lagos, the scheme focuses on promoting education and supporting young people in their academic pursuits. The club is led by Professor Adeniyi Osuntogun, a former Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, who has consistently advocated for educational empowerment among Ibadan youths.

According to the organisers, the bursary is designed to assist financially challenged but high-achieving students studying in accredited Nigerian universities. The programme aims to reduce dropout rates and encourage students from low-income families to stay focused on their studies. “The Oluyole Club Bursary Program is part of our continued effort to promote education and give back to our community,” the organisers said in a statement announcing the 2026 edition.

They explained that the programme targets undergraduates who are indigenes of Ibadan and currently enrolled at the 200 level in any Nigerian university. Applicants must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.50 or its equivalent and show evidence of financial need. The club emphasised that the bursary is meant for students who have performed well academically but struggle to meet the cost of their education.

“The bursary award gives students the opportunity to focus more on their studies and less on financial challenges,” the statement added. The organisers described the ₦100,000 support as a contribution that can cover part of tuition, textbooks, or other academic expenses during the session. Recipients also gain community recognition and become part of a network of Ibadan professionals who support one another in different fields.

To qualify, applicants are required to submit several documents alongside their handwritten application letter. These include a letter of identification from their Local Government Area proving Ibadan origin, a letter from their Faculty Dean confirming their studentship, and their academic transcript showing 100-level results. Each application must contain the applicant’s home address, email, and phone number.

Completed applications are to be submitted physically to the Bursary Committee, c/o Mr. Niyi Fatokun, at Textile Labour House, No. 10 ACME Road, Ogba Industrial Estate, Ikeja, Lagos. Applicants who need clarification or assistance can reach the committee through 08034457511 or 08033370697. The organisers advised students to ensure that all required documents are included before submission to avoid disqualification.

The deadline for applications is January 15, 2026, and interested students have been urged to apply early to avoid missing out on the opportunity. The Oluyole Club noted that the bursary is highly competitive and only the most qualified candidates will be selected.

“The programme reflects our belief that no student should drop out of school because of financial hardship,” the club said. They added that the initiative continues to build a culture of educational excellence and social responsibility among Ibadan youths. The organisers also encouraged past beneficiaries to remain ambassadors of the club’s vision by contributing positively to their communities and supporting others in need of similar opportunities.
