Kogi launches NG-CARES 2.0 capacity training

Kogi State has launched a new training programme under the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus NG-CARES Programme 2.0 to strengthen local development capacity across the state.

The training, which begins today in Okene, is organised by the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency KGCSDA for members of the Local Government Review Committees LGRCs and Desk Officers from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies MDAs. It is funded by the World Bank as part of efforts to boost local governance and development delivery.

According to the General Manager of KGCSDA, Chief Momoh Dauda, the exercise aims to equip participants with the technical, institutional, and operational knowledge needed for effective implementation, review, and oversight of Community Development Plans CDPs and Group Development Plans GDPs.

He said, “The training is expected to help participants deliver transparent, inclusive, and results-oriented interventions that align with the state’s development priorities.”

Chief Dauda added that NG-CARES Programme 2.0 builds on the achievements of the first phase, which supported community-driven projects that improved livelihoods, enhanced access to basic services, and strengthened social protection in rural communities.

Participants will receive sessions on environmental and social safeguards, gender mainstreaming, and inclusion of vulnerable groups, with presentations led by senior officials and experts to promote experience-sharing and collaboration.
