The legal case involving N-POWER beneficiaries continued at the National Industrial Court of Nigeria in Abuja, as the Federal Government proceeds with the matter. N-POWER operates under the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), and the case has drawn attention from thousands of beneficiaries across the country.
At the latest court session concluded earlier today, only the 3rd Amendment was present in court, while the 1st, 2nd and 4th Amendment did not attend. Barrister Abba Hikima addressed the court and explained the situation regarding attendance.
He told the court that “the 1st and 4th extenders attended the previous session before postponement,” while also stating that “the 2nd and 3rd extenders were delivered.” The clarification was made as the court reviewed the progress of the case and appearances by the parties involved.
The court confirmed that the case was officially announced for hearing and would not be suspended. After reviewing the updates presented, the court postponed the matter to May 19, 2026 for continued hearing. The judge also recommended the delivery of audition alerts to the 1st, 2nd and 4th.
This development is coming shortly after the recent NPower protest staged around February 4, 2026, where some beneficiaries demanded action over pending issues linked to the programme.
The court document referenced during the session carries a January date and provides details of the suit. The case is filed under Suit No: NICN/ABJ/214/2025 at the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Abuja Judicial Division, Holden at Abuja.
The claimants listed in the document include Junaidu Shehu, Jacob Kehinde James, Rabilu Sadanu Abubakar, Kabiru Aminu, Sabiu Muhammad, Rabiu Suleiman Bello, Mustapha Umar, Aisha Mohammed Sani, Samuel Obinna Chukwu and Binta Usman Adamu, alongside 231,871 persons listed in the schedule to the Complaint.
The defendants are the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, the Attorney General of the Federation, the Accountant General of the Federation, and Mr. Akindele Egbuwalo, National Programme Manager of the N-Power Programme, sued on behalf of N-Power Programme.
A Memorandum of Conditional Appearance dated January 30, 2026 was entered for the Accountant General of the Federation as the 3rd Defendant, signed by M. V. Agada (Mrs) and Ibrahim Etsu, Esq.
