Mrs Nonye Soludo, wife of the Anambra State Governor, has launched the Skilled Ladies Programme to train women in practical technical skills for self-reliance.
Speaking at the launch held at the Government House in Awka, Mrs Soludo described the initiative as a deliberate effort to empower women with valuable skills that can help them build sustainable livelihoods.
She explained that the programme was designed to equip participants with technical abilities that are currently in high demand across different sectors.
“This is a personal gift to support purposeful women and encourage them to become self-reliant through practical skills,” she said.
Mrs Soludo revealed that the programme was initially planned for 50 participants but was later expanded to 100 due to the strong interest shown by women who applied.
The training will cover areas such as solar and CCTV installation, air conditioning repair and maintenance, tricycle repair, and painting.
