Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has inaugurated Local Government and Ward coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and improve communication of government policies across the state.

The inauguration, which held in Asaba on Tuesday, marked a significant step in expanding the structure of the Renewed Hope movement to the grassroots, with the appointment of 25 Local Government Ambassadors and 270 Ward Ambassadors across Delta State.

Represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, the governor described the newly inaugurated coordinators as a critical link between government policies and the people at the community level.

He said the structure was deliberately designed to ensure that government programmes and reforms are properly communicated, understood, and embraced by residents across all wards and local government areas.

“You are the heartbeat of Renewed Hope at the grassroots,” Onyeme said on behalf of the governor.

“This inauguration is not just recognition; it is empowerment, it gives you the authority to act, the structure to operate, and the responsibility to deliver.”

He explained that the initiative goes beyond political mobilisation, noting that it is also aimed at building a responsive system that allows government to connect directly with citizens and understand their concerns.

“This is the formal launch of a grassroots structure designed to take our vision closer to the people and deepen its impact across every community in the State,” he said.

According to him, the coordinators are expected to serve as messengers of government policies, engage directly with residents, and ensure that accurate information reaches every corner of the state.

“Our ambassadors have a clear mandate: engage the people, listen to their concerns, and communicate our vision with clarity and conviction,” he stated.

He added that the structure would promote discipline and coordination in messaging, ensuring that government communication remains consistent at all levels.

The governor also stressed the importance of unity within the movement, urging the coordinators to work together under a shared vision.

“The theme, Our Party, One Message, One Mobilisation, speaks to the core of our mission; it reminds us that our strength lies in unity, discipline, and coordinated action,” he said.

“We must speak with one voice, share one message, and mobilise with one purpose.”

He further charged the ambassadors to highlight the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the Renewed Hope agenda, noting that visible results must be communicated to the people.

“These accomplishments demonstrate that Renewed Hope is not merely a promise, it is progress in action, real and measurable in the lives of our people,” he said.

Also speaking at the event, the immediate past Governor of Delta State and South-South Zonal Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, described the initiative as a structured platform to drive engagement and public understanding of government policies.

He said the programme, initiated by President Tinubu in collaboration with Governor Hope Uzodimma and other progressive governors, was designed to bridge the communication gap between government and citizens.

According to Okowa, the ambassadors have a responsibility to lead conversations within their communities and ensure that reforms are properly explained.

He urged them to work closely with party leaders and local officials to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and counter misinformation.

He specifically referenced key reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidy, noting that such policies require proper explanation for citizens to understand their benefits.

Okowa said the reform has increased revenue allocation to states, enabled the payment of salaries, and supported initiatives like the student loan scheme.

In his goodwill message, Delta State APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Areyenka, expressed appreciation to the organisers of the programme and described the development as a positive step for the party in the state.

He stated that the APC in Delta State is gaining momentum and positioning itself for future success.

Similarly, APC National Vice Chairman (South-South), Hon. Victor Tombari Giadom, emphasised the importance of grassroots leadership, reminding the coordinators that their roles place them at the forefront of engagement with the people.

“Leadership is local,” he said, urging them to connect directly with residents and tailor their communication to reflect the realities within their communities.

He noted that effective engagement would help build trust and reinforce public confidence in government policies.

State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, described the inauguration as a major milestone in building a functional grassroots structure across the state.

He said the coordinated network covering all 25 local government areas and 270 wards would enhance mobilisation and ensure that the Renewed Hope agenda is effectively driven at the community level.

Solomon charged the newly inaugurated coordinators to carry out their responsibilities with dedication, unity, and integrity, stressing that their performance would determine the success of the initiative across Delta State.
