The Federal Government has led the private launch of the Happy Woman Digital Platform, with the public registration portal set to open on April 3, 2026, to empower 10 million Nigerian women.
The initiative, unveiled at a private event in Lagos, is designed to expand economic opportunities for women and position them for stronger participation in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital economy. It is structured as a long-term intervention that combines skills development, access to income opportunities and enhanced market visibility for women across the country.
At the centre of the launch was a strong call for execution and measurable impact. The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, who led the unveiling, emphasised that women’s economic inclusion must move beyond policy conversations into real, scalable action.
“Empowering women is not just a social priority. It is an economic imperative. Platforms like this create real pathways for women to participate meaningfully in the economy,” she said.
The Happy Woman Digital Platform is built to bridge the gap between learning and earning by integrating digital and business skills training with direct access to opportunities. Participants will be equipped with the tools needed to build sustainable and scalable income streams, particularly within the digital and creative sectors where demand continues to grow both locally and globally.
A major component of the rollout is the 100K Micro Agency Digital Programme, which aims to train and empower 100,000 women-led businesses to operate as mini digital and creative agencies. Through this programme, participants will gain practical skills in areas such as social media management, content creation, digital marketing and brand support services.
The programme is expected to not only deepen women’s participation in Nigeria’s digital workforce but also create structured pathways for entrepreneurship. By enabling women to offer services to both local and international clients, the initiative aligns with broader efforts to position Nigeria as a key player in the global gig economy.
Applications for the programme will open on April 3, 2026, marking the transition from a closed, stakeholder-driven launch phase to wider public participation. This next phase is expected to drive scale, as women across the country gain access to the platform and its opportunities.
The private launch attracted a high-level audience, reflecting strong institutional interest in the initiative. Key stakeholders from government, financial institutions and the private sector were present, signalling a coordinated approach to advancing women’s economic empowerment.
Among those in attendance were Chairman of the House Committee on Women Affairs, Kafilat Ogbara; Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group, Umaru Kwairanga; and the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Emomotimi Agama. Also present were the Managing Directors of Fidelity Bank and Zenith Bank, alongside senior executives from the financial services, FMCG and oil and gas sectors. Organisations such as WIMBIZ and the Bank of Industry were also represented.
Speaking during the event, Kwairanga highlighted the importance of scale in achieving inclusive growth, noting that intentional frameworks are required to drive meaningful participation.
“For Nigeria to achieve inclusive growth, we must create intentional pathways for women to participate in the economy at scale,” he said.
Another key feature of the platform is the Social Impact Champion Initiative, which provides a structured pathway for organisations to sponsor cohorts of women into the Happy Woman Creator Programme. The model is designed to attract partnerships from corporate organisations, financial institutions and development agencies seeking to deliver measurable social and economic impact.
According to the organisers, the initiative creates a practical framework for expanding opportunities while ensuring that women are equipped to build sustainable income streams within the digital economy. “This initiative provides a structured pathway for organisations to drive measurable impact while enabling women to build sustainable income and participate in the digital economy,” the organisers said.
