The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has announced an increase in permanent residence application fees, with the new rates set to take effect from April 30, 2026.
The announcement, made on Monday via X, applies to applicants from Nigeria and other countries seeking to relocate to Canada under various immigration programmes.
According to the agency, applications received on or after April 30 will be subject to the revised fees as part of a routine update aimed at maintaining efficient and reliable services.
IRCC explained that the adjustment is necessary to keep pace with inflation and rising demand for immigration services, adding that permanent residence fees are reviewed every two years under existing regulations.
A breakdown of the updated fees shows that the Right of Permanent Residence Fee will increase by $25, rising from $575 to $600.
The Provincial Nominee Programme will see a $40 increase, moving from $950 to $990, while the Business immigration category will rise by $85, from $1,810 to $1,895.
Similarly, the Family class application fee will increase from $545 to $570, while fees for protected persons and those applying on humanitarian and compassionate grounds or under public policy measures will rise from $635 to $660.
Permit holders will also experience an increase, with fees going up by $15, from $375 to $390.
The IRCC reiterated that the periodic review of fees is in line with the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, which mandates adjustments every two years to reflect operational costs and demand.
Prospective applicants have been advised to review the updated fee structure ahead of the implementation date to avoid processing delays or complications.
