The Edo State Internal Revenue Service has announced an extension of the deadline for filing individual annual tax returns to April 30, 2026.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, the agency said the extension applies to Individual Annual Tax Returns (Form A) and Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) Tax Returns (Form H3) for the 2026 tax year. The initial deadline was March 31.

The EIRS stated that the decision was taken to give taxpayers more time to comply with filing requirements, improve accuracy of submitted information, and enhance overall compliance levels across the state.

The notice, signed by the Executive Chairman of the agency, John Oseni Odior, urged individuals, business owners, professionals, and employers to take advantage of the extension to fulfil their tax obligations promptly.

According to the agency, taxpayers are expected to file their returns via its official portal, while employers are to submit PAYE returns through the designated online platform or at any EIRS office closest to them.

The service also encouraged residents to seek clarification through its offices or contact channels where necessary.

The extension is expected to ease pressure on taxpayers who were unable to meet the initial deadline and support broader participation in the state’s tax system.
