The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure has said it is set to partner with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund to deliver practical skills training for Nigerian youths, backed by financial support to improve access and participation.
This followed a courtesy visit by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, to NASENI headquarters in Idu, Abuja, where he was received by the agency’s Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Khalil Halilu, on April 1, 2026.
The engagement underscores NASENI’s expanding role in driving strategic partnerships aimed at promoting youth empowerment, advancing skills development, and supporting Nigeria’s industrial growth.
As part of the visit, the NELFUND delegation was taken on a tour of NASENI’s facilities, where they were exposed to ongoing technological projects, innovations, and capacity-building initiatives focused on boosting local production and enhancing national self-reliance.
Discussions between both parties centred on establishing a structured collaboration, with emphasis on human capital development. Under the proposed arrangement, NASENI is expected to deploy its technical expertise, infrastructure, and innovation platforms to design and implement practical training programmes for young Nigerians in both formal and informal sectors.
The initiative is expected to equip beneficiaries with relevant industry skills, improve employability, encourage entrepreneurship, and enhance productivity across key sectors of the economy.
NELFUND, on its part, is expected to provide financial support to complement NASENI’s technical interventions, thereby expanding access to education and skills acquisition opportunities.
Both organisations expressed optimism about the potential impact of the collaboration, noting that further engagements would be held to finalise implementation plans in line with national priorities on youth development and sustainable economic growth.
