FME TVET: Register as Training Centre and Earn N45,000 Monthly Per Trainee

Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Education has expanded opportunities under its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative, opening a pathway for qualified artisans, training centres, and vocational institutions to earn income while helping train young Nigerians in practical skills.

The programme, one of the Federal Ministry of Education’s flagship interventions, is designed to equip Nigerian youths with industry-relevant technical skills for employment and entrepreneurship. Through partnerships with accredited centres nationwide, selected trainees receive tuition-free vocational training, monthly stipends, and start-up support in high-demand sectors.

For many applicants trying to enrol as trainees, however, a major challenge has emerged: the centre selection portal is currently showing the message, “No available training providers found. Please try again later, or select a different skill.”

This means that in many locations, there are not yet enough registered and accredited training providers to meet demand.

What Nigerians Should Do Now

Rather than waiting endlessly for training centres to appear on the portal, Nigerians with vocational expertise are being encouraged to take advantage of the gap by registering as training providers themselves.

If you are a registered artisan, vocational instructor, workshop owner, or skills trainer, this is an opportunity to become part of the national TVET delivery network.

Those eligible can register under any of these categories:

  • Skill Training Centre (STC) — for centres with CAC registration
  • Mastercraft Person (MCP) — for individual artisans, including those without CAC but with valid NIN
  • Vocational Enterprise Institution (VEI) — for larger structured vocational institutions

Each approved centre is entitled to receive N45,000 monthly per trainee under the initiative, making it both a national development opportunity and a revenue stream for qualified trainers.

Registration Requirements for Skill Training Centres (STC)

To qualify as an STC under NBTE accreditation, applicants must provide:

  • Proof of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration
  • Adoption of NSQ-based curricula
  • At least one qualified senior artisan/craftsperson or instructor per programme with minimum NSQ Level 3 certification
  • At least one Quality Assurance Assessor (QAA) per trade
  • One certified Internal Quality Assurance Manager (IQAM)
  • Adequate technical and support staff
  • Essential facilities such as workshops, studios, field areas, offices, and restrooms
  • Evidence of previous training experience and certifications awarded

Requirements for Mastercraft Persons (MCP)

For artisans applying individually as MCPs, NBTE requires:

  • CAC registration or National Identification Number (NIN)
  • Adoption of NSQ-based curricula
  • Minimum one qualified senior artisan/craftsperson per programme with NSQ Level 3 certification
  • Ratio of one qualified junior artisan per five trainees
  • Workshop and restroom facilities
  • Evidence of previous training experience

This category is especially suitable for experienced artisans who train apprentices but do not yet operate formal registered centres.

Requirements for Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEI)

Larger institutions applying as VEIs must provide:

  • CAC registration proof
  • NSQ-based curricula adoption
  • Minimum one qualified instructor per trade (1:40 ratio)
  • One QAA per trade
  • One certified IQAM
  • Workshops, classrooms, offices, and restrooms
  • Records of past training programmes and certifications

Why This Matters

The shortage of listed training providers on the trainee portal signals a strong need for more accredited centres across Nigeria. By registering now, artisans and vocational institutions can fill this gap while gaining direct access to government-backed trainee placements.

This also helps expand vocational education access to more young Nigerians seeking employable skills in trades such as welding, tailoring, ICT, plumbing, renewable energy, automotive repairs, and more.

How To Apply

Interested applicants can register through the official NBTE digital portal here.

After successful submission, applicants will be redirected to an application page where they must copy their User ID, which will be needed for future login alongside their chosen password.

For support, NBTE can be reached via: 02013306282

For skilled Nigerians ready to train others, this may be one of the most practical opportunities currently available under the Federal Government’s TVET expansion drive.
