She commended NNPC Retail for institutionalising the initiative, noting that “programmes like She-Fix provide a practical pathway for women to participate meaningfully in sectors that have traditionally been male-dominated.”

The minister further called for stronger collaboration between government and the private sector to scale such interventions nationwide.

In her keynote address, Executive Vice President, Business Services, NNPC Ltd., Sophia Mbakwe, emphasised that women play vital roles across all levels of the organisation, adding that NNPC Retail, as the company’s interface with everyday Nigerians, reflects the importance of diversity in delivering value.

She said, “Women’s contributions within NNPC Ltd. are not peripheral; they are central to our operations and growth trajectory.”

Speaking on behalf of the Managing Director of NNPC Retail, Huub Stokman, the Executive Director, Finance, Valentina Kojo, stressed that empowerment initiatives must go beyond rhetoric.

“Women empowerment must be practical, visible, and sustainable. That is what She-Fix represents,” she stated.

Also speaking, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., Andy Odeh, noted that women are increasingly shaping the future of the energy industry.

“Women in today’s energy sector are leading change, building institutions, and redefining the narrative of an industry in transition. When women lead, value follows,” he said.

Activities at the event included panel discussions, live car care demonstrations, interactive sessions, and a marketplace showcasing female-led businesses. Participants also benefited from networking opportunities and product discounts on Oleum Lubricants and NR-GAS LPG products.

The panel featured notable industry leaders including Emmanuella Arukwe of NNPC Foundation, Maryamu Idris of NNPC Trading Limited and Nigeria’s OPEC representative, Oremeyi Akah of Interswitch, Toyin Alasi of Money Wise International, and Adaeze Nwakoby of NNPC Retail.

The She-Fix 2.0 programme builds on the success of its 2025 Lagos edition, signalling an expansion of its reach and reinforcing NNPC Retail’s resolve to drive inclusive growth across Nigeria’s energy value chain.
