Applicants on the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) recruitment portal are currently facing a common issue when trying to preview their aptitude test invitation slip. After entering their National Identification Number (NIN), the system returns an error message:
“Candidate Aptitude Error: Unable to fetch Candidate qualified with provided credentials.”
This has created confusion among candidates who are unsure whether the issue is from their application status or a technical fault on the portal.
From multiple user experiences, this error is not necessarily a disqualification. In many cases, it is linked to temporary system glitches, browser compatibility issues, or network instability rather than an outright rejection.
What is causing the error
- Server overload due to high traffic on the recruitment portal
- Poor or unstable internet connection during the request
- Browser incompatibility with the portal system
- Delayed update of shortlisted candidates on the backend
What candidates should do
- Switch to a different browser, preferably Opera Mini or Phoenix browser
- Avoid using in-app browsers such as Facebook or Instagram
- Ensure a stable and strong internet connection before retrying
- Try accessing the portal during off-peak hours (late night or early morning)
- Clear browser cache and reload the page before entering NIN again
Candidates who initially encountered the error have been able to successfully access their aptitude invitation after applying these steps. In several cases, simply changing the browser resolved the issue instantly.
The error message does not automatically mean a candidate is not shortlisted. It is advisable to keep trying with the recommended fixes before drawing conclusions.
Applicants are encouraged to remain patient as the system continues to stabilise while thousands of candidates attempt to access their details at the same time.
