Plateau State University, Bokkos (PLASU) has opened applications for admission into its postgraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session, with opportunities available across Doctorate, Master’s Degree and Postgraduate Diploma programmes.

The university said applications are now open to qualified candidates seeking admission into various faculties including Arts, Environmental Sciences, Management Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences, and Social Sciences.
According to the admission notice issued by the Office of the Secretary, candidates applying for postgraduate programmes must possess five credit passes at O’ Level, including English Language and Mathematics. However, the university clarified that candidates applying into the Faculty of Arts are exempted from the compulsory Mathematics credit requirement.
PLASU stated that candidates seeking admission into Master’s Degree programmes must possess a First Class or Second Class Honours Degree from Plateau State University or any other university recognised by the institution’s Senate. Candidates with Third Class degrees can only apply for Postgraduate Diploma programmes.
The university also noted that applicants for M.Phil./Ph.D. programmes must possess a Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline with a Weighted Score Average (WSA) of at least 60 per cent, including a minimum of 60 per cent in their research project.
“All advertised programmes will run on a full-time basis,” the notice stated.
The institution further directed applicants to carefully check specific departmental admission requirements on the university website before proceeding with applications.
PLASU added that degree transcripts and reports from three referees confirming the research capability of applicants must be submitted to the Secretary of the School of Postgraduate Studies before the advertised deadline.
The university fixed June 30, 2026, as the deadline for the completion and submission of online applications.
Programmes announced by the university cut across several specialised fields.
In the Faculty of Arts, the Department of English Language is offering PGD in Creative Writing, M.A. English Language, M.A. English Literature, as well as M.Phil./Ph.D. programmes in English Language and English Literature.
The Department of History and International Studies is also offering postgraduate programmes in African History, Economic History, and International Studies, including doctoral programmes.
The Theatre Arts Department listed postgraduate options in Theatre Arts, Film Studies, and Theatre and Tourism Studies.
Under the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, the Department of Geography is offering programmes in Environmental Resources Management, Tourism Studies, Climatology, Population Studies, Rural Development and Geographical Information Systems.
The Faculty of Management Sciences announced postgraduate programmes in Accounting and Finance as well as Management Studies, covering PGD, M.Sc. and Ph.D. levels.
In the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, postgraduate opportunities are available in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Microbiology.
The university is also offering advanced programmes in areas such as Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Medical Microbiology, Food and Industrial Microbiology, Environmental Microbiology, and Biotechnology.
Within the Faculty of Social Sciences, departments including Economics, Mass Communication, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology are accepting applications for various postgraduate programmes.
Psychology programmes include Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Industrial/Organisational Psychology, Psychometrics and Social Psychology at both Master’s and Ph.D. levels.
