Applications are now open for the Foundation Certificate in Applied Health organised by the Afe Babalola Centre for Transnational Education in partnership with King’s College London and other African partners.

The programme is a one-year fully online course designed for young Africans who want to study health-related subjects and make a positive impact in their communities. Successful applicants will study for free under a fully funded scholarship opportunity.
The Foundation Certificate in Applied Health is a full-time online programme that will begin on September 14, 2026. The application deadline is June 25, 2026.
Students in the programme will study different subjects including Study Skills, English for Scientific and Academic Purposes, Biology, Math and Data Analysis, Physics and Chemistry, Applied Critical Thinking, Applied Health Sciences, and Innovation in Community Healthcare as the final project.
The programme welcomes applicants from Sub-Saharan African countries, especially young people who may have faced financial hardship, displacement, or caring responsibilities.
Who Can Apply
To apply, candidates must have completed secondary school with the required grades. Nigerian applicants must have at least C6 in WAEC or NECO. Applicants from Ghana need C6 or above in WASSCE, Kenya applicants need grade C or above in KCSE, while South African applicants need level 4 or above in NSC.
Applicants must also have internet access, a phone or computer, enough time to attend weekly sessions, and must not currently be enrolled in a university programme.
Application Process
Interested applicants are required to complete two steps before the deadline. First, they must apply through the Afe Babalola Centre application portal and complete the screening questions and personal statements. Secondly, applicants must complete King’s application for the Foundation Certificate in Applied Health.
Results and enrolment updates will be shared on a rolling basis before the programme starts in September 2026.
