The Federal Government has launched the National Youth Data Bank (NYDB), a digital platform designed to create a comprehensive profile of young Nigerians and support better planning for youth-focused programmes.

The initiative is a flagship programme of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, powered by Pogma Nigeria Limited. It is designed to collect and organise information on youth demographics, education, skills, employment, entrepreneurship and other relevant areas.
According to the initiative, NYDB is intended to cover all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with a target profile capture of more than 77 million young people. Its core indicators include education, skills, employment, entrepreneurship, civic participation and health.
The Federal Ministry of Youth Development says the database can help government and authorised institutions identify young Nigerians, understand their qualifications and skills, connect eligible youth with jobs, training and enterprise opportunities, and coordinate youth-focused programmes.
The platform is also designed to support monitoring and measurement of youth development interventions. Young Nigerians may benefit through greater visibility and potential connections to relevant opportunities, programmes and services.
NYDB is aligned with Nigeria’s National Youth Policy and is presented by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development as part of efforts to strengthen evidence-based youth development. The platform is also aligned with the government’s stated focus on youth empowerment, job creation, skills development, digital transformation and human-capital development.
The initiative says registration is not the end of the process. A registered youth profile can provide the foundation for connections to skills, jobs, enterprise, internships, digital opportunities and government programmes.
The registration process involves visiting an approved NYDB cluster point, undergoing an eligibility check, providing accurate information to build a youth profile, and completing consent and confirmation. Approved registration locations may include designated venues within states, Local Government Areas (LGAs), schools and other special locations.
The platform is intended to improve the visibility of young Nigerians who may be underrepresented in existing datasets, including those in rural communities and other underserved groups.
The database also seeks to strengthen coordination among government agencies, private sector organisations and development partners. By providing a common youth profile, NYDB is expected to support more informed decisions about programme planning, budgeting, targeting, participation and outcomes across different areas of youth development in Nigeria initiatives.
How to register
Interested young Nigerians should visit an approved NYDB registration centre within their state, LGA, school or designated location. Registration personnel will guide applicants through the process and conduct the preliminary eligibility check.
Applicants should provide accurate information when creating their profiles and complete the required consent and confirmation steps.
