The North East Youth Initiative for Development (NEYIF) is seeking qualified and motivated individuals for Field Enumerator positions supporting field data collection and monitoring activities in the North-East.

The position is based in Damaturu, Yobe State, while field assignments will take place in Kaga Local Government Area (LGA), Borno State. The role is listed as daily work under the Programmes Department and reports to the MEAL Assistant.
Applicants must be based in Damaturu or able to report there as required. They must also be willing to travel regularly from Damaturu to Kaga LGA, including rural and hard-to-reach communities. Travel will be subject to approved movement and security arrangements.
The work will involve collecting quantitative and qualitative data using approved MEAL tools. The assignment will support field monitoring and reliable data collection activities. Enumerators may support monitoring, spot checks and verification exercises during field activities. They will be expected to obtain informed consent from respondents, communicate respectfully with community members and follow approved questionnaires, sampling instructions and data collection procedures.
They will also review information for accuracy and completeness, conduct field verification and quality checks, collect community feedback and submit completed questionnaires within agreed timelines. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain confidentiality and follow NEYIF’s protection, safeguarding and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as well as safety and security requirements.
Previous experience as a Field Enumerator or Data Collector is required. Experience with household surveys, assessments, NGO or humanitarian programmes and data collection in rural, conflict-affected or hard-to-reach communities will be an advantage.
Applicants should have basic digital skills and be able to use an Android smartphone for digital data collection. Experience with KoboToolbox, ODK or CommCare will also be an advantage.
Requirements
Candidates should possess at least a National Diploma (ND), Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, Public Health, Agriculture, Community Development or a related field.
English proficiency is mandatory, while fluency in Hausa and/or Kanuri is an added advantage. Applicants should have good communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently or with a team. They should be willing to work in rural and hard-to-reach communities and respect confidentiality, safeguarding and humanitarian principles.
Experience with MEAL activities, Protection, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), safeguarding or other NGO and humanitarian field programmes will be an added advantage. Women and persons with disabilities who meet the requirements are encouraged to apply.
