President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to present prize grants to winners of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) innovation competitions at the NASENI Innovation Awards on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, in Abuja.
The event will take place at the State House Banquet Hall, Aso Rock Villa, from 10:00am.
The awards ceremony will feature finalists and winners from three innovation competitions organised under NASENI: the InnovateNaija Competition, FutureMakers Competition and the Intra-Agency Innovation Competitions.
The InnovateNaija Competition focuses on discovering and supporting Nigerian innovators across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). FutureMakers is designed to inspire and nurture young innovators between the ages of five and 16.
The Intra-Agency Innovation Competitions focus on driving innovation among staff of government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), with the aim of improving productivity and efficiency.
The NASENI Innovation Awards will provide a platform for finalists and winners to have their work recognised as the agency promotes homegrown innovation, technology development and commercialisation.
NASENI has been developing pathways that move innovative ideas from early-stage development towards mentorship, funding and commercialisation. Its innovation programmes have also included financial prizes, technical training and development support.
The October 7 event is expected to bring together innovators, competition finalists, other stakeholders to recognise participants and showcase their innovations.
The event is primarily for finalists, winners and invited stakeholders across the three NASENI competitions. Members of the public should follow NASENI channels for updates.
