Payments under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project are reportedly ongoing, with some parents confirming that their daughters have started receiving the ₦60,000 cash transfer.
The programme supports girls’ education by helping parents meet educational expenses and encouraging adolescent girls to remain in school through secondary education.
In Gombe State, the government has commenced distributing automated teller machine (ATM) cards to adolescent girls in public schools under the second batch of the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme.
The state’s Commissioner for Education, Associate Professor Aishatu Umar Maigari, said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to promoting girl-child education.
The AGILE Project Coordinator in Gombe State, Dr Amina Haruna Abdul, also reported improvements in school enrolment and retention among beneficiaries.
Although the Gombe announcement confirms the second batch’s rollout, nationwide payment status, eligibility requirements and disbursement schedules for other states have not been independently confirmed. Beneficiaries should verify updates through their state’s AGILE project office or relevant education authorities.
How to benefit
Parents and guardians should contact their state AGILE project office or school authorities to confirm eligibility, payment status and the required procedures. Avoid paying anyone to access the cash transfer.
