MoFund Africa has opened applications for Cohort 2 of its Africa Impact Academy (AIA), a free 10-month programme designed to help African-founded organisations strengthen their operations and become better prepared to attract funding.
The programme is open to organisations in Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa and Zambia working in health, education, energy or agriculture. MoFund expects to admit about 100 organisations for the new cohort.
Selected participants will receive personalised coaching, learning sessions, monthly coaching visits and support to develop a growth strategy. The programme also includes three in-person workshops, an intern sourced and paid by MoFund, and an opportunity to pitch to investors and industry participants.
Organisations will use MoFund’s SikaIQ platform to record performance information, including revenue, employment and progress against growth plans. This information helps participants track results and supports due diligence by potential funders.
Grant opportunities
The Academy does not guarantee funding. Graduates may be considered for grants or debt financing, depending on their organisation’s impact potential, participation and the quality of information submitted during the programme.
MoFund says 10 organisations from the first cohort received grants ranging from US$5,000 to US$20,000. The organisation also operates the Africa Bridgeworks Fund, which supports eligible Academy graduates ready for catalytic funding. Applicants should treat funding as a possibility, not an automatic benefit.
Who can apply?
Applicants must meet the programme’s requirements:
- The organisation must be African-founded, legally registered and operating continuously for at least two years.
- It must be based in Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa or Zambia.
- Its work must focus on health, education, energy or agriculture.
- The founder or chief executive must work full-time in the organisation.
- It must provide a product, service or programme already used by its community.
- It must maintain operational and financial records.
The Academy is intended for organisations, including eligible nonprofits and social enterprises, rather than individuals seeking personal grants. Participation is free, although organisations may cover their own travel costs for in-person activities.

Applications close on 5 November 2026 at 11:59pm East Africa Time (EAT). Applicants should prepare income figures for the last two financial years and customer or participant numbers for the past 12 months. The form may take about an hour to complete.
