The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the One Humanitarian One Poverty Response System (OHOPRS), a framework aimed at improving humanitarian assistance, social protection and poverty reduction.
The approval was announced by Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction Minister, Dr Bernard M. Doro.
OHOPRS is designed to connect emergency relief with social protection, skills development, livelihood opportunities and support for vulnerable households.
The Federal Government says the system will address gaps created when interventions operate separately. Under the proposed approach, households receiving temporary assistance would also be connected to support that can help them recover and become self-reliant.
The initiative aims to improve coordination among institutions, state governments and development partners.
However, approval is only a policy milestone. Implementation remains the next step, with the ministry expected to work with states and partners to deliver measurable improvements.
The announcement did not provide an application portal, eligibility criteria, payment amounts or a start date.
How to benefit
Nigerians should monitor announcements from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction and state authorities for implementation details. No application procedure has been announced.
Details will follow as implementation plans progress.
