The Federal Government has identified six payment providers through which selected Nigerians can receive the ₦50,000 National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI).
The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction says the programme supports poor and vulnerable households, with funds paid directly into beneficiaries’ mobile wallets. The approved providers are ALAT by Wema Bank, MoMo Payment Service Bank (PSB), NairaGram, OPay, Moniepoint and Xpress Payments.
The ministry says beneficiaries are selected using verified national identity records and the National Social Register. There is no application form, registration fee or agent who can secure a place on the list.
Selected beneficiaries receive an SMS from their payment provider requesting consent before the payment is made. The official NERSI information says ₦50,000 is credited after acceptance, with no deduction by the programme.
The providers have different access channels. ALAT users can dial *945*23#, MoMo PSB users *671*0#, NairaGram users *726*00#, OPay users *955*20#, while Moniepoint users can dial *5573*27# or use its app. Xpress Payments has been named among the six providers, but its access instructions are not yet listed on the programme website.
The ministry says payments are being made in phases, meaning beneficiaries may not receive notifications at the same time. Being a customer of one of the platforms does not automatically qualify someone for the support.
How to accept
If selected, use the instructions in the SMS from your provider and give consent as directed. You can also dial the relevant USSD code to check eligibility. Never pay anyone to release the money or share your PIN, one-time password (OTP) or Bank Verification Number (BVN). For assistance, contact the NERSI helpline on 0700-022-2222.
