The Federal Government has announced a second cohort of its Accelerated Teacher Professionalisation Pathway (ATPP), giving teachers who missed the first round an opportunity to obtain professional teaching qualifications.
A notice from the Federal Ministry of Education says Cohort 2 is coming soon, while registration details will be announced later. The programme is being implemented with the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI) and the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
The ATPP is designed to help serving teachers without professional qualifications receive structured nationally recognised training towards TRCN registration. The first cohort offered two routes: the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) for eligible degree and Higher National Diploma (HND) holders, and the Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) for eligible National Diploma (ND) or Ordinary National Diploma (OND) holders.
The first cohort required at least 24 months of classroom teaching experience. However, Cohort 2 dates, eligibility conditions, fees and procedure have not been announced. Teachers should wait for official guidelines before submitting information or paying anyone.
How to apply
Cohort 2 applications are not yet open. Monitor the ministry and ATPP portal at https://apply.atpp.education.gov.ng/ for registration details. Avoid unofficial links and agents.
