Some applicants in the recruitment exercise of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) staged a protest in Kano State on Sunday, November 8, demanding clarification over their status.
The protesters, who said they had attended the oral interview, appealed to the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Board to explain the unresolved “Check Back Later” message on the recruitment portal.
In an open letter shared with photographs of the demonstration, the applicants requested an official update on their applications and the next stage involving the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) screening.
The protest comes as candidates seek clarity on the final stages of the 2024/2025 recruitment exercise. The Board had earlier directed eligible candidates to access the portal, confirm their status and obtain instructions for mandatory drug screening.
Comments beneath the protest post reflected divided opinions. Some users encouraged the applicants to remain calm and keep seeking answers, while others argued that attending an oral interview did not guarantee final selection. A few advised the protesters to move on and pursue other opportunities.
One commenter questioned the protest, while another warned applicants to remain safe. Others urged candidates to wait for official communication rather than assume the portal message meant rejection.
The applicants want the Board to address their concerns publicly. However, the protest and online comments do not establish that anyone has been selected or rejected. Only an official decision from the Board can confirm individual outcomes.
How to check your status
Candidates should visit the official CDCFIB recruitment portal at https://recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng and follow instructions on their dashboards. They should rely on official updates and avoid paying anyone promising to influence recruitment outcomes.
