June 16, 2025 – The Chairman of the Bayelsa State Civil Service Commission, Mr Perekiye Buruboyefe, has appealed to residents of Bayelsa to remain calm and trust the ongoing recruitment efforts of the Governor Douye Diri-led Prosperity Administration.
Speaking during a live interview on Talk to Bayelsa, a popular programme aired on Radio Bayelsa, Mr Buruboyefe assured the public that the civil service recruitment is progressing as planned. He emphasized the administration’s dedication to providing job opportunities and boosting public service in the state.
“The Governor graciously approved the recruitment of about 1,000 officers into the Bayelsa State Civil Service on March 3, 2025,” Buruboyefe stated. He revealed that 36,750 candidates took part in the Computer-Based Test (CBT), and only those who scored 60 and above would move to the next stage, which is a physical screening exercise.
Addressing challenges encountered during the process, he said, “We faced issues with candidates not following instructions. There were also problems like mismatched names and wrong phone numbers, which made verification difficult.”
While some listeners who called in praised the state government’s efforts to tackle youth unemployment and improve public sector efficiency, others expressed concern over technical hitches during the test. Several candidates demanded to see their CBT scores, while a few suggested the entire test be canceled due to the glitches.
In response, Mr Buruboyefe assured the public of the Commission’s integrity and commitment to fair recruitment. “We are determined to run a transparent and credible process. Every concern raised will be addressed accordingly,” he promised.
