The Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) has issued a strong warning to the public regarding fake recruitment activities being carried out by individuals impersonating the agency.
The Director General of DESTMA, Chief Benjamin Okiemute, made this known while addressing journalists in Asaba, the state capital. He clearly stated that “DESTMA is not recruiting and has not placed any advertisement either.” He emphasized that the general public should disregard any claim of job vacancies linked to the agency.
Chief Okiemute stressed that those moving around with fake offers of employment are not staff members of DESTMA and do not represent the agency in any capacity. He also confirmed that the Delta State Government has not approved any form of recruitment for the agency.
According to him, “There are procedures and protocols involved for recruitment to be carried out in any ministry, department, or agency.” He advised Deltans to remain alert and avoid falling victim to job scams targeting desperate job seekers.
In an official statement titled DISCLAIMER, the agency announced: “It has come to the notice of the management of the Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) that certain unscrupulous individuals or groups have been parading around with fake job offers of employment to unsuspecting members of the general public.”
The statement further declared: “It is hereby announced for the information of the general public that there is no ongoing recruitment into the Delta State Traffic Management Authority and as such, claims are not only fake but are intended to defraud the public and are hereby disclaimed.”
DESTMA assured the public that any future recruitment would follow the correct procedures through the Delta State Civil Service. “The public may wish to note that should any such employment or recruitment exercise be approved by the Delta State Government, the usual state channels of communication and procedures shall be duly followed.”
