The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced the date for the 2026 Ekiti State Governorship Election. This was made known in line with Section 28 (1) & (2) of the Electoral Act 2022.
According to INEC, the election will take place across all 16 Local Government Areas of Ekiti State. The scheduled date is Saturday, 20th June 2026, and voting will commence by 8:30am at all 2,445 polling units in the state.
INEC also gave important guidelines for voters. Only individuals whose names appear on the Register of Voters and who have a valid Permanent Voter Card (PVC) will be allowed to vote.
“Voters shall only vote at polling units where they are registered,” INEC stated.
The commission further confirmed that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be used for voter accreditation, ensuring a credible process.
“No PVC, No Voting,” the notice added.
INEC urged residents to participate actively, saying, “Making Your Vote Count… Consolidating Our Democracy.”
