The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has launched a solar-powered Fashion Hub in Abuja, offering Nigerian fashion entrepreneurs access to high-end facilities at a heavily subsidized rate of N500 per day.
This initiative aims to support young designers and tailors across the country by providing affordable access to garment-making equipment, workspaces, and nationwide distribution networks.
The hub is located at SMEDAN’s Idu facility and is powered by locally manufactured solar panels supported by a 120 KVA mini-grid. This ensures uninterrupted 24-hour electricity for users, reducing the cost of production and increasing efficiency for fashion businesses.
“This Fashion Hub is one of our empowerment programmes to promote the growth of small businesses and encourage self-reliance,” a SMEDAN stated.
To help explain the opportunities available through this initiative, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) is collaborating with SMEDAN under its “7 for National Values Charter” campaign. The collaboration aims to inform Nigerians about the government’s focus on supporting entrepreneurship and boosting the economy.
At N500 per day, fashion designers will be able to use advanced machines, secure storage, and benefit from discounted logistics partners that can deliver products across Nigeria. These features are expected to attract more young people to the fashion industry.
To benefit from this opportunity as a tailor or aspiring fashion entrepreneur, follow the steps below:
1. Just walk in to Idu at SMEDAN’s office with your NIN.
2. They will allocate you a sewing machine. You can operate it 24hours.
