August 22, 2025 – The National AIDS and STDs Control Programme (NASCP), under the Federal Ministry of Health, has officially announced its latest recruitment drive, opening applications for the role of Programme Officer in Abuja, Nigeria.

According to the advert, the recruitment is tied to the ongoing Global Fund GC7 grant. A statement explained, “The Programme Officer will, with supervision from the PMU lead, oversee the process of managing the GC7 grant, identifying funding opportunities from Global Fund, writing grant proposals, managing grant budgets, and ensuring that the PMU team and NASCP comply with grant requirements.”

The announcement further revealed that the successful candidate will handle additional administrative responsibilities such as developing a detailed annual work and budget plan based on the approved overall work plan. Officials also confirmed that, “S/he will be paid competitive fees for the agreed duration based on qualification and experience.”

NASCP emphasized that the position offers young professionals an opportunity to engage in international donor-funded health projects in Nigeria, particularly HIV/AIDS programs.

The recruitment update highlighted that applicants must carefully review requirements before proceeding with the online application form.

Eligibility Requirements:
1. Academic qualifications: SSCE, OND/Diploma, Bachelor/HND, Masters or Doctorate/PhD
2. Minimum of ten years’ post-graduation experience with progressive responsibility
3. Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including report writing, presentation, and stakeholder engagement
5. Proficiency in ICT systems and computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, and data management systems (knowledge of R is an added advantage)
6. Ability to meet tight deadlines, work under pressure, and manage multiple tasks effectively
7. Demonstrable experience managing health projects, including HIV/AIDS programs
8. Experience with Global Fund projects or similar donor-funded initiatives
9. Strong management, supervisory, and capacity-building skills, including at least 8 years’ experience in managing teams of professional staff
10. Expertise in programme planning, design, monitoring, evaluation, and follow-up
11. Sound knowledge of Government of Nigeria structures and policies relevant to Global Fund program oversight
12. Experience collaborating with international and national partners, institutions, and agencies
13. Proven ability to coordinate multi-stakeholder projects and deliver measurable results
