Elite Logistics and Development Services Limited, has unveiled plans to begin a training programme for at least 40,000 youths across the North Central region on the fabrication and use of its solar-powered kiosk, known as Elite Smart Kiosk.
The initiative, scheduled to commence in the last quarter of the year, will draw a minimum of 1,000 beneficiaries from each of the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory. The company said the project is targeted at equipping Nigerian youths with valuable skills to improve their economic prospects.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, the Group Managing Director of the company, Mr. David Adesanya, explained that the programme is part of the organisation’s strategic plan to provide opportunities for young people. He said, “This is a strategic plan by the organisation to ensure that the youths end the year on a positive note, with a skill that will usher them into robust economic opportunity in the new year.”
According to him, the Elite Smart Kiosk has a significant economic value chain capable of transforming lives. He called on governments, non-governmental organisations, and ministries, departments and agencies to adopt the solar-powered kiosk as an empowerment tool.
The solar kiosk is designed as a multipurpose unit, which can serve as a mobile healthcare dispensary, exhibition stand, unisex salon, convenience store, retail display outlet, ICT booth, security centre, multimedia hub, barbing shop, or for POS banking services.
Mr. Adesanya noted that several opportunities are embedded in the empowerment scheme, as beneficiaries will be trained in skills for the local fabrication and construction of the solar kiosk. The fabrication process involves carpentry work, electrical connections, solar panel installations and other technical engagements, thereby creating more employment opportunities through skill acquisition training.
Highlighting the advantages of the product, he said, “The Elite Smart Kiosk is efficiently reliable, powered by solar, aesthetically designed with low maintenance costs and supports direct employment and empowerment opportunities for young Nigerians.”
He stressed that the innovation provides solutions for political office holders, NGOs, philanthropists, humanitarian organisations, federal, state, and local governments, as well as notable personalities across Nigeria and Africa who are seeking new ways to support empowerment projects for unemployed youths.
He further stated that young Nigerians, including those above 40, have no reason to fail since the solution to unlock their potential lies in the use of the smart kiosk. He added that the training would expose participants to the various stages of construction, tailored to their intended purposes.
Mr. Adesanya urged youths in Kogi, Benue, Niger, Plateau and Kwara States to take advantage of what he described as a great opportunity for economic empowerment.
