The Plateau State Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Cletus Bako Shurkuk, has restated the government’s commitment to youth empowerment and digital development. Speaking during the commissioning of the A+ Computer Hubs in Jos, he stressed the need for young people to become future leaders in today’s fast-paced digital world.

“As technology continues to redefine our world, from education and healthcare to governance and agriculture, we must prepare our youths to not just participate, but to lead,” Dr. Shurkuk said.

The newly launched A+ Computer Hubs is a tech-based initiative designed to equip young Nigerians with in-demand digital skills. The Commissioner praised the founder, Chief Koppe, for his visionary leadership and strong commitment to youth development in Plateau State.

Dr. Shurkuk emphasised the importance of digital inclusion and innovation, noting that the hubs will open up new opportunities in the growing digital economy. He called on youths to embrace technology and entrepreneurship, urging them to look beyond traditional jobs and become self-reliant innovators.

The Ministry also reaffirmed its support for grassroots innovation, skill acquisition, and capacity building, aligning with Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s broader vision. The Governor has declared 2025 as the “Year of Technology” in Plateau State, focusing on using science and innovation to drive job creation, economic growth, and sustainable development.

The commissioning event marks a key milestone in the state’s journey to becoming a recognised digital hub. Dr. Shurkuk concluded by saying the Ministry will continue working with partners to advance inclusive technology across the region.

The A+ Computer Hubs are expected to boost digital skills training, support youth empowerment programmes, and attract tech investments.
