On August 6, 2024, the Abia State Government commenced a two-day Trade Development Programme at Panyu Hotel, Aba. The event, which runs until August 7, is organized by the International Trade Facilitation Association (ITFA) to support entrepreneurs, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and promote export growth of Made in Aba products.
Speaking on behalf of Executive Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti OFR, the Honourable Commissioner for Ministry of Industry and SMEs, Maazi Michael Enyinnaya Akpara, delivered the keynote address. He emphasized the state government’s dedication to industrial development and economic growth, stating, “The Governor is committed to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, and this programme is a testament to that commitment.”
Maazi Michael Enyinnaya Akpara praised the organizers for creating a platform where stakeholders can share knowledge, network, and explore business opportunities. He noted that the programme has successfully attracted entrepreneurs, MSMEs, and industry experts from across the country, fostering collaboration and innovation in trade and export development.
He further highlighted that the initiative aligns with Abia’s vision of promoting Made in Aba goods in both local and international markets, which is expected to boost revenue generation and create employment opportunities for residents.
The event was attended by key industry figures, including the Managing Director of ENASCO, Miss Nnena Kalu Ogbai, and the Deputy Director of SMEs, Mrs. Chinyere Nwosu. Their presence underscored the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing trade development in Abia State.
