Candidates who applied for the Abia TechRise programme have been advised to check their emails for full details of their Computer-Based Test (CBT), including exam date, venue and time.
This update comes as the TechRise Cohort 3 selection process moves into the CBT phase, scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Only applicants who successfully progressed to this stage have been contacted.
CBT format and timing
According to the organisers, the CBT will consist of 50 objective questions to be completed within 45 minutes. Candidates will be able to view their scores immediately after finishing the exam.
However, participants are warned that once the 45-minute time limit elapses, the system will automatically log them out and submit their answers, whether completed or not.
Understanding exam numbers and batch allocation
Each candidate has been issued a unique exam number, which contains key details about their test centre and batch schedule.
For example:
- “tr3” refers to TechRise Cohort 3
- “applicant” confirms candidate status
- A four-digit number represents the application number
- Codes such as ABA1 or UMU2 indicate the exam venue
- Letters A to J represent the assigned batch time
- The final digits indicate the specific exam number
Candidates are strongly advised to carefully review these details, as attending the wrong centre or batch will result in automatic forfeiture of the exam.
Approved CBT centres
There are four designated CBT centres across two cities in Abia State — Aba and Umuahia.
In Aba, candidates may be assigned to ICAN Promax Digital Hub, located along the Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway in Osisioma, or Konye Foster Technologies JAMB CBT Centre in Ogbor Hill.
In Umuahia, centres include XYZ Technologies CBT Centre near the Abia State Secretariat and Amiable Nigeria Ltd CBT Centre along Old Timber Road, opposite Golden Guinea Breweries.
Batch schedule and verification
The CBT will run in 10 batches, starting from 8:00am to 6:00pm. Each batch lasts one hour, with verification beginning 30 minutes before the scheduled time.
Batch A starts from 8:00am to 9:00am, while Batch J runs from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Candidates are expected to arrive early for verification, as late arrival may lead to disqualification.
Subjects and curriculum
The exam will cover three core subjects: Mathematics, English Language and Introduction to Computers.
The curriculum is based on WAEC and JAMB standards. Mathematics will include Algebra, Arithmetic, Geometry, Statistics, Trigonometry and basic Calculus.
English will test Grammar, Tenses, Parts of Speech, Vocabulary, Comprehension, Spelling and Punctuation.
Introduction to Computers will cover Computer Fundamentals, Operating Systems, Internet and Networking, as well as basic computing history.
Key instructions for candidates
Participants have been given strict guidelines to ensure a smooth examination process.
Candidates are advised not to come with bags to the exam venue to avoid loss or confusion. Mobile phones are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall, and any candidate caught using a phone will be automatically disqualified.
Only a pen or pencil and a plain sheet of paper will be allowed for calculations.
Applicants are urged to read their email instructions carefully and adhere strictly to all guidelines to avoid disqualification at this critical stage of the selection process.
