Adamawa Invests ₦12bn to Support Small Businesses

The Adamawa State Government has invested about ₦12 billion to support micro and small businesses across the state as part of efforts to reduce poverty and boost economic growth.

The Director General of the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) disclosed this while receiving members of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Adamawa State chapter, led by its Chairperson, Felicia Dauda.

According to the DG, the investment is part of the empowerment programmes being implemented by the state government under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to strengthen small businesses and improve livelihoods across Adamawa.

He explained that the funds are being channelled through various initiatives designed to support entrepreneurs with capital and opportunities to expand their businesses.

“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has committed about ₦12 billion to support micro and small businesses as part of efforts to reduce poverty and promote economic growth in the state,” he said.

The DG noted that women have emerged as the majority of beneficiaries of the programmes, reflecting the government’s focus on empowering women economically and improving household income across communities.

He also commended the growing number of women in journalism in Adamawa State, praising their unity and commitment to the profession.

In her remarks, the Chairperson of NAWOJ, Felicia Amos Dauda, said the empowerment programmes have had a strong impact across the state, especially through the Fintiri Business Wallet Empowerment Programme.

“Women have greatly benefited from the Fintiri Business Wallet Empowerment Programme, and the positive impact of the initiative across the state cannot be overemphasized,” she said.

Dauda added that the association is ready to partner with PAWECA by using its media platforms to create awareness so that more women and vulnerable groups can benefit from the programmes.

She said the collaboration would help ensure that the opportunities created by the government reach more residents across the state.
